Concerns have been expressed by some parents and children in response to the Health Minister’s announcement that children aged 12 to 17 will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination without parental consent.
On Friday morning, Health Minister Joe Phaahla announced that the decision was made in response to a recommendation from the Ministerial Advisory Committee (MAC) on vaccinations.
South Africa will begin vaccinating this age group with a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Wednesday of next week.
