Thabo Bester, a convicted killer and rapist, has once again enlisted new legal representation in his prison escape case.
Bester, along with accomplice Nandipha Magudumana and seven co-accused, faced charges related to his 2022 prison break from the Mangaung Correctional Facility in a recent session at the Bloemfontein High Court.
The court witnessed various legal changes, including Bester switching to his fourth lawyer since his arrest. Prosecutor Amanda Bester addressed the court regarding these developments during a busy day in proceedings.
“For accused number seven, there were two lawyers involved – a Mr Jan Loubscher as well as a Mr Mathee. Both of them filed notices regarding the withdrawal of them.”
The pre-trial hearing scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed to June 5th due to changes made by the accused.
