The African National Congress (ANC) affirms its commitment to cadre deployment, emphasizing that the policy effectively selects qualified candidates for government roles.

The party welcomes the Pretoria High Court’s rejection of the Democratic Alliance (DA)’s attempt to declare the deployment policy unconstitutional. In a 40-page ruling on Wednesday, the court states that the DA’s application is based on speculation.

Despite the court’s decision, DA leader John Steenhuisen expresses dissatisfaction, linking state-owned entities’ failures to cadre deployment. However, the ANC’s spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu, sees the judgment as validation that their deployment policy is merit-based.

The court emphasizes that uncovering corruption should not be an excuse for political objectives.
