Zimbabwe’s governing ZANU PF has endorsed plans to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term by two years, which could keep him in power until 2030. The proposal, approved at the party’s Mutare conference, directs the government to draft constitutional changes.

Legal experts warn the move may face challenges, as Mnangagwa is currently set to leave office in 2028 after two terms.
