Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has confirmed that Ukrainian peace negotiators are en route to the United States, where they are scheduled to hold meetings with the U.S. negotiating team on Friday and Saturday, as diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war intensify.

Speaking on Thursday, Zelenskiy said the talks would focus on advancing a framework for peace, following weeks of heightened diplomatic activity involving Washington, Kyiv, and key European allies. The meetings come amid growing international pressure to explore a negotiated settlement to the conflict, now in its fourth year, which has caused widespread destruction and displacement across Ukraine.

The planned discussions follow recent consultations between U.S. and Ukrainian officials that Zelenskiy previously described as “constructive but difficult,” reflecting the complex issues at stake, including territorial integrity, security guarantees, and sanctions on Russia. The United States has reiterated its support for Ukraine’s sovereignty while encouraging diplomatic engagement as part of a broader effort to stabilize the region.

Analysts say the upcoming talks signal renewed momentum toward a potential peace process, though major obstacles remain. Any agreement would require coordination with European partners and address Ukraine’s long-term security concerns, as well as Russia’s position on occupied territories.
