Vladimir Putin met with regional officials after record-breaking floods struck Dagestan, killing six people, including three children.

Authorities say three months’ worth of rain fell in just one day, causing the Gedzhukh reservoir to breach and triggering widespread flooding.

More than 2,000 homes were inundated, while power supplies were disrupted and key infrastructure, including roads and bridges, suffered severe damage.

Emergency services are continuing rescue and recovery operations as officials assess the full scale of the disaster.
