Peru has announced that it is BREAKING DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH IRAN, citing its commitment to peace, international law and democracy.
Peru’s Foreign Ministry pointed to what it described as the REPRESSION OF PROTESTERS, RESTRICTIONS ON PRESS FREEDOM, DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN AND PERSECUTION OF POLITICAL OPPONENTS inside Iran.

Lima also raised concerns over disruptions to international trade through the STRAIT OF HORMUZ, warning of consequences for GLOBAL ENERGY PRICES AND SUPPLY CHAINS.

Peru further accused Tehran of escalating regional conflicts and obstructing the work of the IAEA.

The BIG question:
IS PERU’S DECISION THE BEGINNING OF GREATER INTERNATIONAL ISOLATION FOR IRAN AS PRESSURE ON TEHRAN MOUNTS?
