UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has reopened the debate over Britain’s long-term relationship with the European Union, saying options including eventual rejoining should be considered.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has criticised the proposal, arguing that closer integration with the EU would deepen divisions rather than deliver national unity.

Burnham says Brexit “did more harm than good” and wants the UK to examine its future relationship with its largest trading partner ahead of a planned EU-UK summit.

The comments have put Brexit a defining issue of British politics since the 2016 referendum back at the centre of the political debate.
