China Hails Resumption Of ‘Normal Discussions’ With U.S On Trade, Economy

China has hailed the resumption of “normal discussions” with the US on trade and economy, with both sides seeking to resolve issues pragmatically.

Over the past week, Chinese Vice-Premier Liu He has held two video calls, one with the US Trade Representative Katherine Tai and and another with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. It was the first formal engagement between the two parties on trade and economic issues under the Biden administration. This follows a period of strained relations between the world’s two biggest economies, including a trade war that lasted nearly two years.
