Last week, the Colorado Supreme Court’s unprecedented ruling declared former President Donald Trump ineligible for the 2024 Presidential Elections due to the Constitution’s insurrection provision. This decision, a first of its kind, may lead to Trump’s exclusion from the state’s primary ballot.

Missouri’s election officials strongly disagreed with the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision, asserting that it is fundamentally flawed and poses a significant threat to American democracy. Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft stated that Missouri will not accept the ruling, emphasizing that the final decision should rest with the state’s residents.

On December 24, 2023, Maine followed suit by disqualifying Donald Trump from its presidential primary ballot, making it the second state to do so. Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, a Democrat, justified the decision by accusing Trump of inciting insurrection through false claims about voter fraud in the 2020 election and encouraging supporters to disrupt the Capitol’s certification process. Some argue that this is another attempt by the far left to initiate a witch-hunt against Trump.
