Newly appointed Defence Minister Angie Motshekga has addressed critics questioning her military experience. Motshekga, who formerly served as the Minister of Basic Education, emphasized that her role does not require her to be a soldier to be effective.
“I understand that my responsibility is not to be a soldier,” Motshekga stated. “In the department, there is a civic responsibility to manage operations and ensure Cabinet directives are fully implemented. I don’t need to be a soldier to determine budget allocations for human resources…”
