Rodrigo Paz Wins Bolivia’s Presidency With A 54.5% Vote

Rodrigo Paz has won Bolivia’s presidential runoff, defeating conservative Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga with 54.5% of the vote. Paz’s victory marks the end of nearly two decades of leftist rule as the country faces its worst economic crisis in a generation.

Despite winning the presidency, Paz’s party lacks a legislative majority; therefore, he will need to build alliances with other parties in order to govern effectively. The new president has inherited challenges including inflation, fuel shortages, and the need to attract foreign investment. He is set to take office on November eighth.
