Schoeman has won three Olympic medals, including gold in the 400m free relay in 2004, silver in the 100m free solo event, and bronze in the 50m free event. Aside from that, he has won three World Championships—two in the 50 fly and one in the 50 free.
In order to represent South Africa at the upcoming 20th World Aquatic Championships, which will take place in Fukuoka, Japan from July 14 to July 30, Roland Schoeman has been chosen.
“I took this picture at my very first world championship. I took third in the 50-meter freestyle at Fukuoka in 2001. I received word today that I will compete in this year’s world championships, which will also take place in Fukuoka. I’m going to race in Fukuoka one more, 22 years later,” Schoeman wrote on Twitter.
The American Olympian, who resides in Arizona, competed in the 50-meter butterfly event at the 2023 South African National Senior Championships in April, winning it in 23.82 seconds and placing second in 22.89 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle event.
