Russia’s President Putin Convenes Security Council After Call With President Trump

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin convened the Security Council a day after his phone call with US President Donald Trump. President Putin told members that the official agenda focused on seabed mineral resources, but foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov confirmed that President Putin also briefed officials on his conversation with President Trump.

Furthermore, Ushakov confirmed that a meeting between Foreign Minister Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled for next week. That meeting will come before a planned meeting in Budapest between President Putin and President Trump.
