The Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital in Ekurhuleni has been temporarily shuttered following an alleged shooting death in the parking lot of a police officer’s 30-year-old girlfriend, a nursing assistant at the facility.
“The Gauteng Department of Health would like to advise members of the public who require health care services at the Tembisa Hospital today to visit other nearby health facilities as the hospital remains closed following a fatal shooting incident that shocked both patients and staff,” spokesperson Motalatale Modiba said.
He stated that patients who are currently hospitalized to the facility are still receiving care.
“When the facility reopens later today, the public will be told,” he said.
According to the Gauteng provincial health authorities, the 30-year-old police officer visited the hospital just after 8 a.m. in a State vehicle equipped with blue lights and parked in the accident and emergency department’s parking lot.
