The Taxi Industry, Religious Leaders, And A Frustrated Community Unite In An Ancyl March Against Crime In Soshanguve

Some taxi associations have joined the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in a march against violent crime in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.

 

Last month, popular DJ and musician Peter Mashata was shot and killed in the township after returning from a gig.

 

Just a week ago, five-year-old Ditebogo Junior Phalane was gunned down at his home while his father was being hijacked.

 

Hundreds of concerned young people gathered at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium to march to the local police station.

 

Frustrated community members, taxi drivers, and religious leaders are demonstrating against what they describe as ruthless criminals who have infiltrated Soshanguve.
