The Kremlin has confirmed that CIA Director John Ratcliffe held unannounced talks in Moscow through Russia’s special services marking the first visit by a sitting CIA director to the Russian capital since 2021.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the results of the talks were reported directly to President Vladimir Putin, while denying that Ratcliffe met face-to-face with the Russian leader.
The secretive encounter raises fresh questions about the state of US-Russia intelligence contacts and whether the discussions could have implications for broader relations between Washington and Moscow.
