Atletico beat REAL MADRID in a fiery derby to move above their city rivals into SECOND PLACE IN LA LIGA.
The turning point came when DEAN HUIJSEN pulled down GIULIANO SIMEONE inside the box. VAR intervened, Huijsen was sent off, and ALEJANDRO GRIMALDO converted the resulting penalty.
Then JONATHAN DAVID struck from Simeone’s cross to score his THIRD GOAL IN THREE LA LIGA GAMES, putting Atletico firmly in control.
Real pulled one back through ANTONIO RUDIGER, but could not find an equaliser.
