U.S. President Donald Trump says plans are underway for major oil, gas and mineral exploration in Greenland, pointing to the Arctic island’s potential energy resources amid elevated global oil prices.
Trump also highlighted Greenland’s strategic importance to U.S. and European security, arguing that its location could play a central role in defending against future attacks.
The remarks follow a September agreement between Washington, Denmark and Greenland to expand the U.S. military presence on the island, including additional bases and missile defence capabilities.
