BANGLADESH’S KHALILUR RAHMAN TAKES PRESIDENCY OF 81ST UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman has formally assumed the presidency of the 81ST SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY, beginning his one-year term. (United Nations)
Rahman secured the position after defeating Cyprus candidate Andreas Kakouris, winning 99 votes to 91. He previously served as Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser and High Representative for Rohingya Affairs before becoming foreign minister in February. (National Youth Policy Management)
