JUST IN: 11 ARRESTED IN MASSIVE U.S. MARRIAGE FRAUD SCHEME
U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche has announced the arrests of 11 people accused of running one of the LARGEST MARRIAGE FRAUD SCHEMES ever prosecuted in the United States.
The DOJ alleges the multimillion-dollar operation arranged MORE THAN 1,000 FRAUDULENT MARRIAGES, primarily pairing Chinese nationals with U.S. citizens to obtain immigration benefits.
Prosecutors say the operation ran for years as a COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE, helping individuals who otherwise could not legally obtain U.S. residency or citizenship.
The BIG question:
HOW DID A SCHEME INVOLVING MORE THAN 1,000 MARRIAGES OPERATE FOR YEARS WITHOUT BEING STOPPED?
