Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has inaugurated Ethiopia’s National Precious Metals Refinery at the Bole Lemi Special Economic Zone in Addis Ababa.

Established through a partnership between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Dubai-headquartered Sam Precious Metals, the facility will refine gold into export-ready bullion and manufacture gold and silver bars.

With a stated annual capacity of more than 600 tonnes of precious metals at full capacity, the refinery aims to strengthen domestic processing, improve quality assurance and position Ethiopia as a regional refining and manufacturing hub.
