Early voting has begun in Georgia, with voters preparing to decide races for governor, the U.S. Senate, secretary of state and attorney general.
Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms faces Republican Rick Jackson in the governor’s race, while Republican Mike Collins challenges incumbent Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff.
According to Ballotpedia, 538 candidates have filed to run for the Georgia General Assembly the highest number of state legislative candidates since 2010, compared with an average of roughly 429 in previous election cycles.
Election workers are urging voters to review sample ballots ahead of time as competitive statewide and local contests make ballots longer.
