The talks come as the Israel-Hezbollah conflict is proving to be a hurdle in a wider ceasefire with Iran, which says any peace negotiations must include both Hezbollah and Lebanon. Both nations agreed to launch ongoing direct negotiations at a later date and venue. U.S. officials characterized the session as “productive”.
