Former U.S House Speaker Nancy Pelosi maintained publicly that she did not know about the extent of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline prior to his June 2024 debate, stating that the public only truly learned the reality during that debate while noting that those in Biden’s inner circle “should have acted”.
Reports and books have previously alleged that Pelosi privately acknowledged Biden had “lost a step” or aged significantly, even as she publicly defended his sharpness or deflected questions about his age.
