S. Korea: Smes To Adopt 52-Hour Workweek Rule From January 2021

The nation’s Labor Minister announced the one-year grace period given to businesses hiring 50 to 2-hundred-99 employees, will not be extended. This affects more than 24-thousand small firms. Those who fail to comply may face up to two years in prison or a fine of up to around 18-thousand U.S. dollars. However, business owners will be given four months to adopt the new system after the violation is first reported. Many SMEs already requested an extension due to the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
