South Africa: Repairs To Harrismith Main Substation Amounts To R8.8 Million

In South Africa, Emergency repairs to the vandalised Harrismith main substation have cost R8.8 million. This is on top of R38.9 million that has been allocated to repair nine other substations in Qwaqwa damaged by vandals and illegal connections. Money that could have been used for basic service delivery had to be redirected for the repairs putting additional pressure on the financially strained Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality.
