Democratic Alliance (DA) federal leader Geordin Hill-Lewis has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to remove John Steenhuisen from his position as agriculture minister.
Hill-Lewis, who took over the DA leadership from Steenhuisen in April, has proposed a wider reshuffle of the party’s representatives in the Government of National Unity (GNU).
As part of the proposed changes, Steenhuisen would move to the role of deputy minister of trade, industry and competition, while Willie Aucamp, currently minister of forestry, fisheries and the environment, would assume the agriculture portfolio.
