The Swiss Football Association has withdrawn its endorsement of FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s bid for re-election, reversing its June 2026 decision.
The move comes as the association raises concerns over FIFA’s leadership, governance, transparency and decision-making processes.
The decision carries particular significance as Switzerland is Infantino’s home country and hosts FIFA’s headquarters. Infantino is seeking another term in the March 2027 election.
Despite the setback, Infantino continues to retain support from parts of the global football community, while no major rival candidate has formally declared a campaign. Get the latest news of our Loveworld News from our Johannesburg Stations and News Station South Africa, LN24International
