In Zimbabwe, a measles outbreak in the Maniculand province in the east has killed 14 children and sickened scores more.
The authorities announced that a widespread vaccination campaign was underway in the affected district.
72 youngsters have been affected so far, although the outbreak is only in Mutasa district.
According to unconfirmed sources, the majority of the instances involve children from religious sects whose families refuse to use modern medicine.
The ministry of health and childcare announced that all children aged six months to fifteen years would be vaccinated.
Last month, UNICEF and the World Health Organization warned that the COVID-19 pandemic had disrupted routine immunisation programs, creating conditions suitable for measles outbreaks around the world.
