Immigrants fleeing to the UK seeking asylum may be given longer prison sentences and deportation under new laws. The Home Secretary Priti Patel says the harsher laws are meant to deter migrants from perilous journeys and take safer measures. But migrant charities say the most desperate people will still do whatever it takes to reach asylum.
